Why do stamping dies crack?

In a technical article, it is pointed out that the metal stamping dies often crack for the following reasons:
Improper material heat treatment and the appearance of a "moldy layer" on the wire-cut surface led to micro-cracks on the surface of the mold.
The unreasonable design of the mold and insufficient clearance result in stress concentration and easy cracking.
Inadequate tonnage matching and insufficient precision of the press machine can also shorten the service life of the molds.
Strengthening the heat treatment of the molds, improving the rationality of the design, optimizing the wire-cutting parameters and the rigidity of the equipment are the key to extending the service life of the molds.
